Blue Mother Tupelo at Mississippi Songwriters Festival

Ocean Springs, Mississippi

Come enjoy Blue Mother Tupelo's songwriters Ricky & Micol Davis, and many other fantastic songwriters at the Mississippi Songwriters Festival in beautiful downtown Ocean Springs!

In 2010, a group of local Mississippi Gulf Coast friends were jammin’ (as musicians often do) and lamented that there was no vehicle to allow songwriters to share their original music… and the Mississippi Songwriters’ Festival was born! The Festival has grown into an impressive showcase of talent – including 15 to 20 professional songwriters (many from Nashville) who generously share their work by playing at a variety of local venues or teaching their craft in various workshops. Held in the picturesque art-filled city of Ocean Springs, the Mississippi Songwriters’ Festival is a “feast for the ears”. True to the mission of remaining a non-profit organization, there is never a cover charge to enjoy the shows.

Blue Mother Tupelo will be jammin' there with others. At this picnic, there's never a schedule for performers and one NEVER knows who'll be performing for this event. But the music is nonstop and this is always guaranteed to be an old-fashioned Mississippi boogie. Y'all come!

About Otha Turner:

"Renowned for his picnic parties Mr. Turner - who played a homemade bamboo cane fife or wooden flute and spent much of his life as a sharecropper and subsistence farmer - was a living link to rural Blues and fife-and-drum pre-blues that extended well into the 19th Century."
