Established in 1976 to provide a listening, intimate setting for a wide range of artists, from Townes Van Zandt to Willie Dixon to Robin and Linda Williams. The Down Home has featured theater, political rally’s, writers series, poetry slams, all night parties. Come as soon as the doors open and enjoy the ambience of a room surrounded in oak wood. The Down Home has a menu of some delicious items so you won’t be hungry while you’re enjoying the great music.

Located in upper East Tennessee, The Down Home is near I-181.

From the West: Johnson City is about 100 miles northeast of Knoxville, Tennessee on I-40/81. From the East: it's about the same distance from Roanoke, Virginia, on I-81. Take the I-181 turnoff (exit 57) off I-81 toward Johnson City, then take the Unaka Street exit (exit 33) to the right, go three red lights, then left on main street. The Down Home is at 300 W Main Street.
