Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Fest, 200 West 4th Street, Fordyce, Arkansas

Blue Mother Tupelo & other artists at Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Fest!

The Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Festival is a celebration of the city's railroad history starting with construction of the Cotton Belt Railroad through the region in 1878. The festival began in 1980 with a concert given by Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash with proceeds going to fund the kick-off of the ongoing event. In recent years, the festival has hosted Jim Ed Brown just prior to his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Bobby Rush shortly after his winning Best Traditional Blues Album Grammy for "Porcupine Meat." The festival includes a big parade, large carnival, antique car show, food and craft vendors, nationally sanctioned steak and hamburger cook-off and nightly entertainment throughout the fourth week in April each year!
